CrawlQuest Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 October 2026

1. Who is responsible

CrawlQuest is a mobile app for organising bar crawls with friends, developed by Jorge Andreu Royo, an independent developer who is the controller of your personal data. You can reach us at midwayofdraenor@gmail.com for any privacy matter.

This policy explains what data the app processes, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and how you can exercise your rights.

2. What data we process

2.1. Account (optional)

You can use CrawlQuest as a guest, without an account. If you sign in with Apple, Google or Discord, the provider gives us a user identifier, your name and your email address (Apple lets you hide your real email). We never receive or store your password.

2.2. Session data

2.3. Location

With your permission, and only while the app is open, we use your device's precise location to find nearby bars and build the route and, during an active session, to show your position on the map to the other participants. CrawlQuest does not use your location in the background.

Your latest position is only kept while the session lasts: it is deleted automatically when the session ends and, in any case, 24 hours after its last update. The point where the route was created is also deleted when the session ends.

2.4. Purchases

You can buy a rule pack or CrawlQuest Premium without creating an account: your device keeps a record of what you bought to unlock it, and you can restore it on other devices with the same Apple ID or Google account. If you are signed in, we also store in your account what you bought, when, and the transaction identifier provided by Apple or Google, so that we can unlock it on your devices. Payment is handled by Apple or Google: we never see your card or payment details.

2.5. Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store your device's notification identifier to let you know about activity that concerns you. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings.

2.6. Crash diagnostics

When the app fails, a technical report is sent to Sentry: the error, the device model, the system and app versions, and screen performance data. These reports do not include your name, email, messages or location.

2.7. Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Google's SDK may collect device identifiers, your IP address and ad interaction data to serve ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud. CrawlQuest Premium users do not see ads.

On iPhone and iPad, the first time you open the app iOS asks whether you allow CrawlQuest to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. Only if you allow it can Google use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show you personalised ads and, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we also ask for your consent with Google's form. If you don't allow it, the advertising identifier is not accessed, we don't show you any other prompt, any consent you gave earlier in Google's form is deleted and only non-personalised ads are requested (in those countries, Google's limited ads). You can change your choice in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

On Android, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland we ask for your consent with Google's form, and you can change it from the app's Profile.

2.8. Preferences

Your language and other app preferences are stored on your own device.

3. Why we use your data and on what legal basis

4. Who we share it with

4.1. Other participants in your session

They see your name, profile photo, progress and score, your chat messages and, while the session is active, your position on the map.

Insults, harassment, threats, discrimination and sexual or violent content are not allowed in the chat. Any participant can report a message or block whoever sent it by pressing and holding it. Every report or block reaches us as a report with who made it, a copy of the message and who sent it, and we review it within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks the rules and ban whoever posted it. The list of people you have blocked is stored only on your device.

4.2. Providers that process data on behalf of CrawlQuest

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

4.3. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or hand over your personal data to third parties for their own purposes.

5. How long we keep it

6. Your rights

You can request access to your data, its correction or deletion, object to or restrict its processing, and receive it in a portable format. You can also withdraw the location, notification and tracking permissions at any time in your device settings.

Deleting your account. If you are signed in, you can delete your account and its data from the app, in Profile → Account → Delete account. The account, recorded purchases, your own rules, statistics, friends and your participation in sessions, including your chat messages, are deleted straight away, and your profile, photo and history are removed from your device. If you have Premium, also cancel the subscription in the App Store or Google Play so that it does not renew. If you cannot access the app, ask us by email as described below.

To exercise these rights, or to delete your account and all of its data, write to midwayofdraenor@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account or telling us the name you use in the app. We reply within one month at most. If you disagree with our reply, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or your local supervisory authority.

7. Security

All communication with our servers is encrypted. The database enforces per-user access rules: each person can only read their own data and that of the sessions they take part in. Even so, no system is completely secure.

8. Minors

CrawlQuest is about drinking and is intended only for people aged 18 or over, or the legal drinking age in your country if higher. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if we find out that we have, we will delete it.

9. Drink responsibly

CrawlQuest is a game for having a good time with friends. Drink in moderation, respect local laws and never drive after drinking.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its update date.
